Chapter 25

The Birth of CC Corp.

The largest hacking incident in history, Pluto’s Kiss, which was initiated by a ten-year-old elementary school student living in Los Angeles, had a major impact on society.

This incident led to the passing of the Network Regulations Act, which severely restricted who and what could be connected to the network, with a few exceptions.

The entertainment industry was also restricted from using networks, making it virtually impossible to launch online games, as well as distribute and download them.

“ALTIMIT OS”, which was the only platformed to survive Pluto’s Kiss, broke this situation.

The OS is an operating system (foundational software).

Computers consist of a large number of hardware components such as the CPU which performs various calculations, physical memory that stores calculation results and input results, an HDD that stores files that make up the OS and applications, and a display that displays operation results. Controlling the hardware requires specific software, since it is too difficult for humans to operate it directly. That’s where the OS comes in. Without an OS, computers are virtually impossible to use.

ALTIMIT OS, which had been available for commercial use for several years by venture company ALTIMIT, continued to operate normally at the time of the incident without succumbing to the vicious Pluto’s Kiss virus.

Its stability was evaluated and in January 2006, “ALTIMIT OS” was adopted as the world standard OS.

The developer, ALTIMIT, has developed a new personalized “ALTIMIT OS” that has quickly spread throughout the world, with the backing of the United Nations.

Almost at the same time, a director who was a core member of the “ALTIMIT OS” development team left ALTIMIT Inc., headquatered in San Francisco, and established a game development company.

He named it CyberConnect (aka CC Corp).
