Patch Fix Not Needed?

A few people have been mentioning that when they updated to the new patch, their game locks at the opening loading screen. However, after extensive testing on emulators and physical PSPs, I have yet to have my game freeze at start-up.

At first I believed that the video was causing issues, but I don’t find this to be the case.

The game works correctly on the following mediums:

PPSSPP Emulator

PSP 2000 and newer running CFW 6.60 Pro-C2

Older versions of CFW ought to work, but I have not confirmed their stability.

I do not have access to a PSP 1000, so I cannot confirm if it will work properly. If you are using a different custom firmware version, you may need to consider upgrading to CFW 6.60 (or downgrading if on 6.60) for the game to work correctly. Also, consider playing on an emulator rather than a physical PSP.

Apparently a newer version of CFW (6.61 Pro-C F3) is available, but I have yet to test it.

If you are using one of the above mediums and the game still doesn’t work, you may need to repatch. Sometimes a step may have been missed.

Please let me know in the comments below, how many of you have encountered an error in the latest patch where the game locks before reaching the start menu? What PSPs are you using and what CFW are you using?

  1. i have encountered this problem where it freezes on every loading screen but believe that it is because i have had to download an iso on account of my psp breaking recently and it says that there are missing files when i try to patch so i think that that is why it is happening.

  2. Works good on 6.61 PRO CFW aswell. I was also able to open the mails again, the menu was glitched though and the game crashed as soon as I went down the list a bit.

  3. I’ve noticed some audio errors with this patch (especially in the opening sequence), but I haven’t gotten to any big crash/freeze moments yet. I’ll try re-installing it.

GREAT work on this, by the way. I’d been dreading slogging through this with one of the dead translation team’s efforts before I found your page.

    1. Yeah, the audio errors should be fixed once the freezing error gets fixed. I found that the audio is fine for me, but on an emulator there are some audio stutters. It may have something to do with how much memory you have available on the CFW. Not sure yet.

  4. this website has confused me so much but I was trying to figure out how to install the English patch to .hack link (im using ppsspp on ipod 5). ive found literally no tutorial on how to do it. I usually use ifile but I don’t know how to install a patch to the game. I tried to download the latest patch and all it did was say “inflating” and a lot more random code or something infinitely. so I had to reboot the ipod and deleted the patch to be sure. Help please?
